Today it's 31st of December and there are only a few hours left until the year finishes - wow, time goes by so fast, doesn't it?
The other day I was just checking the posts I've been writing and I came to one that I wrote exactly one year ago, in this blog. This time last year I was thanking y'all for reading me, for being here supporting what I do... last year I was happy to announce that among my blogs I had reached over 14K reads, and it seemed so crazy. You might think that it's not much, and it's not if we compare it to other bloggers... but I never liked comparing myself to others.
A few weeks ago, I reached 30K reads among my blogs, and it didn't seem to me as much when I saw it, however, when I read that last year I had half of the reads, wow, it started seemed like much more! Also, last year, my first novel that I published on wattpad had reached 1K reads... now I have 3 stories that are over 1K reads.
I don't write with the purpose of getting much reads or having followers, that's not my thing. However, it's more than recomforting to see that there are many people who read what I write, that there are people who enjoy it and that I have a solid number of reads that keeps growing and growing. It's amazing to write when you know that there are actually people reading you and that you have a solid audience. Let's keep growing, right guys?
So, without further delay, I've got to thank you guys. I've thanked you before and I'll do it again because it means the world to me. Y'all are awesome and I hope that you enjoy not only this day but also the year that's coming. I hope you have a happy new year and that everything goes amazing, my best wishes xx
Today it's 24th of December, which means it's Christmas Eve! And, the best way to celebrate that is with some cool rock Christmas music, don't you think so? I find the classic Christmas music kind of boring, but with a punk or rock vibe it's so much better, right?
So, here we go with a 5 Christmas Songs With a Punk Vibe!
1. To begin with, Sunrise Skater Kids don't only give a punk vibe to the song they chose, but also they change the lyrics adapted to the punk world and youth!
2. The guys from Simple Plan share with us their Christmas List, keeping the sound from their first albums but using it in an original Christmas song by the pop-punk band!
3. Next, the guys from Bad Religion want a White Christmas, but definitely their white Christmas is a white punk Christmas!
4. Well, we cannot forget the classics, and The Ramones showed us their own punk way of wishing us a Merry Christmas!
5. Last, but not least, we have Set It Off, telling us what they'll do This Christmas ;)

Today, the pop-punk/pop rock band 5 Seconds of Summer has released the official music video for their song "Jet Black Heart". This is the third single off their album "Sounds Good, Feels Good", and, as a consecuence, the third music video off the album.
This track is one of the most emotional ones from the album, and the video follows the same line as well. If I had to describe the song in a few words, I would probably say: inner demons, inner pain - it's just about that. After all, we're all a little broken inside, but it's not something visible, it's not something easy to see or to notice.
The video is an emotional one, which suits the song's meaning perfectly and gives that essence I was talking about that we're all a little broken, right? We're not so different after all.
Today, I'm talking about two songs: "You Want A Battle? (Here's A War)" and "Venom", both by Bullet For My Valentine. Why am I talking about two songs at once instead of writing two different posts about each song?
Well, the meaning of the two songs and the videos are pretty related, so I think I'll go with that. If we put the two songs together we have a full event that is more complete if we don't talk only about one of the songs.
First of all, I should start clearing up what the songs talk about - abuse. Even though in the videos the example which is shown is domestic abuse, the meaning itself can include any other kind of abuse. Both songs talk about abuse, from the same perspective, which is the person abused, the victim.
The difference between the songs is that they show different parts of the process that the victim's going through inside, the physical process they're going through... I hope you understand what I mean.
"You Want A Battle? Here's A War" talks from the perspective of the victim when the victim is being abused. Meanwhile the song passes by, the victim is suffering because of the abuser, but know the victim is realizing what's happening, which is unfair and he/she doesn't want the situation to carry on that way. What does he/she want? Revenge. The victim is tired of being the victim and wants the abuser to realize what he/she has done the only way he/she can truly realize that... going through the same.
The song also talks about how the abuser needs to abuse others to feel alive, to be alive. Usually, abusers, bullies have a very low self esteem, and they abuse others to feel better with themselves.
At the end of the song, it seems like the victim finally has escaped from the abuser - the abuser is gone. Nevertheless, the consequences for the person who's been abused don't end there, that's why I decided to talk about both songs together, and why Bullet For My Valentine probably made the decision of making the video of "Venom" as a continuation of the previous one.
Now the victim's "free", the abuser is gone. What happens? That isn't enough. The victim can't forget the abuser, what happened... it all comes back in flashbacks, as a "taste of your venom". The victim wants to move on, not to ever look back... but everything's there, even though the abuser is gone. If you've ever read anything about abuse, you will know what I'm talking about. Wherever you look for information about abuse, there's something they always mention... the psychological aftermaths, which are the "venom" the song talks about.
Also, the song talks about how, even though the victim has recognised what the abuser was doing and has separated from him/her, the victim feels that he/she deserves the abuser, what the abuser was doing... whether it's because the abuser is telling them so or not. However, the victim expresses clearly the hatred towards the abuser, who is also playing the victim, something that hurts the victim even more.
No matter how hard the victim tries, it's like the victim can't forget what happen, can't avoid those feelings... it's like being trapped without a way out.
I know that you can probably come to all these conclusions by yourselves by listening to the song, but I thought that it was interesting to mention how the songs are related and how they talk about something that happens more than people think. People usually have the wrong idea of what abuse actually is for two reasons:
- They think that emotional abuse isn't abuse, and try to excuse it in different ways. They don't take it as seriously as it has to be taken.
- They think that once the abuser's gone, everything's okay again - and it isn't always okay.
People don't usually talk about this topic, and I'm glad that this band did, and the way they did it was brilliant - expressing the feeling as they truly are and in a very deep way. It hits home.

Today, as I did last month, I want to change a little bit the script (shall I call it that way?) of this blog, like the stuff I write monthly, since I find it repetitive and that isn't cool to me.
This time, I decided to share with you 10 bands which aren't very known worldwide, you know, not the typical famous ones, the ones growing and fighting for their space in the world of music! Maybe I've already told you about some of them in posts of news or of covers, but I'll try not to repeat myself.
1. I'll start with one of my favorite ones, Suck It Up! These guys with a pop-punk vibe that brings anyone back to the 00's that will definitely lift up your mood. Pop-punk's not dead, right guys? ;)
2. Coming from the UK, Through Your Eyes not only shows us that they have great music qualities and write very cool music, but also they show us that they can make very cool music videos to fit them!
3. They're One Mile Left and they're Back In Town! Okay, the bad joke's over... these guys from Germany with this cool pop-punk style and home-made videos are definitely worth a try!
4. Now we cross the lake and go to Florida, where we find the guys from Palm Trees & Power Lines jumping and singing to the rhythm of pop-punk!
5. Last, but not least, we have Send Request! They'll wake up the revel and angry teen inside you and will make you get up and do whatever you want to!

Today, I was just listening to the song "Apologize" by OneRepublic when something came to my mind - it's basically like the song says. I started to wonder where's the point of no return when it comes to apologies. I started to wonder when do we say 'enough' and decide that we no longer accept any apologies. There's a moment when someone who has really hurt you, who has let you down so badly, apologizes. They say they're sorry, maybe they even say that it's the last time, that they didn't mean it. I'm in favor of apologies, don't give me to wrong - I'm the first one to apologize when I make a mistake or hurt someone. And forgiving it's okay, because we're all human and make mistakes. Nevertheless, sometimes, an apology isn't enough. When you get hurt many times by the same person you start to wonder if you actually want to forgive them. You start to wonder if their words are actually true, or if they're only lies, just like it has happened many times before. I've been there. There you see the person, a person you really care about and maybe you love that person, just like in the song. They're saying they're sorry, that they need you - but you've seen that before. They've apologized before and then stabbed you in the back, and this time you tell yourself that you've had enough, that it's too late. Even though that person means the world to you, even though you love that person more than anything in the world, even though you need them... you just can't forgive them for what they did or said. You're afraid of being hurt the same way again, you might even be afraid of the person who's apologizing. There are moments in which you just can't forgive someone - it's already too late to apologize.
